From Ambleside take the A591 towards Grasmere.

Continue past the lake and take the 2nd left turn at the Swan Hotel towards Grasmere village along Swan Lane (B5287).

After about 200m, immediately before the bridge over the River Rothay, turn left onto the private drive at the sign to Rothay Lodge and Riversdale.  Car parking is at the end of this short drive, alongside the River Rothay.
